3 reasons the Broncos must go all out for an Aaron Rodgers trade

The Denver Broncos have an interesting quarterback position in and of itself when it comes to Drew Lock and what he brings to the franchise, but the team could make a splash with the addition of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, a 37-year-old gun-slinger coming off an MVP season, who is reportedly unhappy in Green Bay and would like to be dealt away from the franchise.

One team that could (and should) be in the mix for Aaron Rodgers is the Broncos. The Broncos have grown skeptical of what Lock brings to the team and they have flirted with some other options throughout the offseason.

The team already made a move to bring in former Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to add some stability to the roster and they could deal him away to land a star signal caller.

Let’s take a look at three reasons why the Broncos should consider a trade for Aaron Rodgers.

3. Upgrade At Quarterback

The first reason as to why the Broncos should consider a trade to bring in Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is because he would be an obvious upgrade at the quarterback position. Lock has had his flashes of greatness, but adding a veteran signal caller fresh off of an MVP season could be too good to be true.

Lock and Bridgewater are solid at best, but the great John Elway needs to bring in a great quarterback if he hopes to compete against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Rodgers could be the hottest name on the market, and the fact that Denver already has some capable receiving talent could make this option even more appealing for Rodgers. This deal would give me flashbacks from when the Broncos brought in Peyton Manning to replace the solid Tim Tebow, then he led the team to a Super Bowl victory.

2. Weapons Around Rodgers

A lot of the reason as to why the Broncos haven’t been considered a legitimate playoff contender is because of the fact that Lock is the man taking snaps under center. It’s time for the Broncos to bring on a real impact player at the quarterback position and Rodgers could be their guy. The Broncos would have plenty of weapons surrounding Rodgers, which would make this move even more appealing.

The Broncos have a pair of outstanding running backs in Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, a bright young receiving corps headlined by Jerry Jeudy and Cortland Sutton, and a great defense to get them over the hump. The Broncos would be a great team for Rodgers to wind up with and it doesn’t seem impossible.

1. Super Bowl Contention

The Broncos may not be Super Bowl contenders right now, but the addition of Aaron Rodgers would surely change that. Rodgers would bring outstanding play from the quarterback position with him to Denver and the Broncos would have one of the three best quarterbacks they’ve ever had immediately.

Honestly, the Broncos do have all the the pieces they need to compete for a championship and the addition of Rodgers could be all they need to get over the hump. If you consider the outstanding defense the team has along with the playmakers littered throughout the offense, the team could have a real shot at winning a ring this season.

Rodgers would have a massive impact on the Broncos, and the two sides should look to get a deal done.
