Form a great duo with Myles Garrett

There is only so much a defense can do with serviceable players that lack dynamic skill-sets. At some point, it becomes clear that more foundational talent is needed before the step steps can be achieved as an overall unit. With Myles Garrett, the Browns already have at least one of those talents.

In just 10 appearances last season, Garrett managed to total 29 combined tackles (11 for loss), 10 sacks, 18 QB hits, and two forced fumbles. Now, imagine pairing that type of talent with a dynamic linebacker that is one of the fastest prospects in NFL Scouting Combine history?

What Simmons brings to the table is highly impressive. According to NFL Stats & Research, he is taller than D.K. Metcalf, heavier than Roquan Smith, faster than Devin Hester, jumps higher than Julio Jones, and more explosive than Alvin Kamara.

The physical tools and general skill-set Simmons has enables him to produce at any linebacker spot and line up at safety, in the slot, or even at defensive end at times. He can thrive in pass coverage, get to the quarterback, and use great closing speed to stop the run (especially as a QB spy).
