Same division as Lamar Jackson
Whenever a player wins the MVP and leads his team to a 14-2 record, there’s going to have to be some adjustments to compete from the other teams in that division. The Browns managing to add a player with the skill-set of Isaiah Simmons would be a great start to achieving that.
Whenever a quarterback runs for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns by himself, there is a need for defenses to have a QB spy that has great closing speed and phenomenal tackling ability. Simmons possesses those traits and would be able to disrupt Jackson at least at an extent.
The Browns already showed progress in their ability to slow down Jackson during their 40-25 win over the Ravens last season. However, he still completed 70.6% of his passes while putting up 313 combined yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
With Joe Burrow very likely on his way to the AFC North as well, having dynamic talents to make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable is important for the Browns. A ‘jack-of-all-trades’ like Simmons is a great player to have since he can do so much and lineup at many different spots.
