3 reasons the Colts should pursue a trade for Lions QB Matthew Stafford

The Indianapolis Colts enter the NFL offseason with quite a few directions they could choose to go. Chris Ballard has been anything but confident in Jacoby Brissett as his long-term starting quarterback since the end of the season. Everything will start with figuring out what to do at quarterback and then other dominoes will fall from there.

Brissett was solid in 2019 after taking over the franchise quarterback role from Andrew Luck. The surprise retirement of Luck set this franchise back quite a bit. Missing the playoffs was disappointing, but many expected it.

Now, the Colts have to figure out which quarterback option would provide them an upgrade.

Philip Rivers and Tom Brady are both at the very end of their careers. Either guy could be the quarterback to lead the Colts to a Super Bowl, but they aren’t remotely long-term options. There is another player that the team should strongly consider taking a look at.

Let’s dive in and take a look at three reasons the Colts should pursue a trade with the Detroit Lions for Matthew Stafford.
