1. Brissett Could Wind Up No. 3 on the Depth Chart
If the Colts draft a quarterback (Jordan Love?, Jacob Eason?, Jake Fromm? Jalen Hurts?), he would become the guy to directly succeed Rivers until proven otherwise. Brissett would then, theoretically, fall to No. 3 on the depth chart.
If he’d be a fairly expensive No. 2, Brissett would be an incredibly expensive No. 3 quarterback for Indianapolis if the situation broke that way.
In the unique circumstance of this offseason, his knowledge of the playbook carries some value. But if the Colts aren’t committed to Brissett as their quarterback of the future, and they don’t seem to be at all, keeping him as anything other than Rivers’ primary backup this year seems foolish.
