Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are entering the 2021 NFL season with something to prove and a chip on their shoulder. After going down with a gruesome season-ending ankle injury last year, Prescott is out to prove that he can still be a superstar and lead the Cowboys into Super Bowl contention.

Last year, the Cowboys struggled and were laughed at in a big way. The Washington Football Team ended up winning the NFC East division, but Dallas feels like they can turn things back around quickly. Jerry Jones and company have their roster back at full health and also added quite a bit of talent to their defense this offseason.

Both the Washington Football Team and New York Giants got better this offseason and the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be a competitive football team. However, there are major glaring weaknesses for all three of those teams. If the Cowboys can fix their big issue on the defensive side of the ball, they are going to be tough to beat.

All of that being said, let’s jump in and take a look at three reasons the Cowboys will win the NFC East division this season.

3. They Have Elite Playmakers Offensively

First up, we have to talk about the playmakers that the Cowboys have on the offensive side of the football. They have arguably the best trio of wide receivers in the NFL in Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. In addition to their talent at wide receiver, they also have a very good star running back in Ezekiel Elliott.

With a quarterback like Prescott leading the way, the Cowboys’ offense should be a juggernaut. Dallas is going to be entertaining offensively and that alone should help carry them into contention for the division title.

2. Improvement On The Defensive Side Of The Football

The biggest priority for the Cowboys coming into the NFL offseason was improving their defense. Last season, team after team shredded through the Dallas defense for big offensive performances. Dallas feels like they did a good job of improving their defense this offseason with a few moves.

Adding linebacker Micah Parsons in the 2021 NFL Draft was a big step in the right direction and they also drafted cornerback Kelvin Joseph, who should be able to make a major impact. Getting Leighton Vander Esch healthy and Jaylon Smith healthy will be a big help as well.

Dallas definitely improved their defense this offseason. They will still have some areas they struggle with, but as a whole they should be a much better unit.

1. Dallas Has A Chip On Their Shoulder

Finally, we mentioned the chip that the Cowboys have on their shoulder entering this season. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they will improve by itself, but the players are looking to prove a point.

Dak Prescott missed most of last season and has heard a lot of hate from the media over the last year. He will be out looking to prove that he can be an MVP-caliber quarterback. Ezekiel Elliott was ripped most of last season for his inconsistent performance.

The Cowboys are a proud franchise, but certainly did not play like that last season. After being the laughing stock of the NFC in 2020, they will be extra motivated to turn things around this year.
