The More the Merrier

The Lions have one pick in each of the seven rounds of this years draft. While it is good that they’ll be able to pick at every level on each of these three days, the draft is all about hitting on the right guys and the more chances you have to do so the better.

The No. 3 overall pick will come with a pretty hefty package in return if they decide to trade out. You have teams that could potentially move into that spot to take a franchise cornerstone player at three different positions if defensive end Chase Young falls past the Washington Redskins at No. 2. In the NFL nowadays, quarterback, defensive end, and cornerback are arguably the three most important positions, unless you wanted to make a case for offensive tackle.

With the potential of Chase Young, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jeff Okudah being there at third overall, any team that wants to move up to secure one of those guys will need to pay big.

The Lions could very easily value the draft capital they’d get in return, specially if they like any of the other top prospects even remotely as close as they do the three just mentioned. Sometimes quantity does trump quality and with all the talent riddled throughout the first two days of this draft, it would be in their best interest to collect as many picks as they can and load up on talent.
