3 reasons the Giants can’t pass on Isaiah Simmons in the NFL Draft

There are some…options with Simmons

It’s one thing for a prospect to have great athletic testing results at the NFL Scouting Combine. It’s another when they use those tools to make a great impact on the field. A player like Isaiah Simmons is emblematic of the latter and can do so in many ways.

Between being able to cover elite tight ends, receiving threats out of the backfield, and track down running threats at QB as a spy, there is so much versatility from Simmons at linebacker. That’s all in addition to rushing the quarterback and generally stopping the run.

There is even more potential for impact from Simmons than all of those layers as a linebacker. Depending on how creative a team wants to get, he could make a real impact lining up at times at any linebacker spot, against the slot, at safety, and at defensive end.

The Giants will have established a strong foundation for their defense by adding Simmons into the mix of their other recent key additions. While they wouldn’t be a finished product in 2020, they could eventually have something special by continuing to add pieces.
