3 reasons the Giants can’t pass on Isaiah Simmons in the NFL Draft

Giants can still land a tackle for Daniel Jones

The need for the Giants to improve at both offensive tackle spots is clear. The hope is that Nate Solder will have a bounce-back season in 2020 at left tackle. Meanwhile, ideally either Nick Gates or Cam Fleming can be serviceable opposite of Solder.

While it would certainly help the Giants to take the top offensive tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft, there simply are other options outside of taking a player at this position with the No. 4 pick.

The Giants have the No. 36 selection and could use that to select a tackle if they wanted to prioritize that position. One option that stands out in particular is Ezra Cleveland out of Boise State. He may not be a polished prospect but his physical talent is second only to Tristan Wirfs.

Even if the Giants were to just roll with what they’ve got at both tackle spots for this year, they could look to find a more permanent solution next offseason. Landing a potentially transcendent talent like Isaiah Simmons is more difficult to achieve than addressing the tackle spot.
