Adams Has Proven His Worth
Ever since the 2017 NFL Draft, Jamal Adams has solidified himself as one of the league’s top defensive players. In fact, he is coming off a 2019 campaign that landed him First-Team All-Pro honors. It’s very safe to say that he’s not only met the New York Jets’ expectations but has exceeded them.
Investing such a valuable draft pick and having that player provide a high-level impact should result in a contract extension. Why draft a safety with the No. 6 pick if the organization isn’t willing to give a substantial contract extension to that position down the line?
It’s not simple to find a way to add one of the NFL’s best safeties, especially after trading one of the few away. When a great talent makes a consistently strong impact, it’s important to pay them because that caliber of player is not necessarily available all the time.
