3 reasons the Lions should look to sign Kareem Hunt in free agency

Kareem Hunt is set to hit free agency this offseason after a shortened season with the Cleveland Browns due to suspension. While he is widely expected to return to Cleveland, there is another team who should make a push to sign him. That team would be the Detroit Lions.

Rumors have been circulating that the Lions could have interest in signing either Kenyan Drake or LeSean McCoy this offseason. Instead of going that route, Detroit should look into Hunt as an option.

During the 2019 season with the Browns, Hunt ended up playing in just eight games. He carried the football 43 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Hunt also caught 37 passes for 285 yards and another score.

To put those numbers up in just eight games, Hunt showed that he still has the talent to be a very special running back. Just a couple of short years ago, Hunt was viewed as one of the top up-and-coming players in the NFL. Detroit should not forget that.

All of that being said, let’s take a look at three reasons the Lions should consider signing Hunt this offseason in free agency.
