3 reasons the Packers should avoid drafting a quarterback

The Packers have more pressing needs

There are some needs the Packers still have to address after free agency especially with some key players departing. For a team that just came off an NFC Championship Game appearance, they would be best served looking to re-tool as much as possible to get back there.

When making a selection as late as No. 30 like the Packers will be, it’s difficult to project which prospects will be available. Anything would be a boost as long as their selection can help with either the offensive tackle, wide receiver, interior defensive line, corner, or linebacker spots.

A common projection for the Packers in mock drafts is that they end up selecting a talented receiver prospect in the first round. With this year’s receivers class being so deep, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Green Bay ending up going that route.

The other early round draft selections the Packers have could be used to add talent at other positions of need after taking a receiver at No. 30. For example, Draft Wire has Green Bay taking a linebacker in the second round and a defensive lineman.
