3 reasons the Packers should make a play to sign Hunter Henry

Matt LaFleur led the Green Bay Packers to a 13-3 regular season record and the NFC Championship Game in his first year as head coach. It was an impressive turnaround after the franchise missed the playoffs in each of the two previous seasons. Now, more pieces need to be added in order to take the next step into the Super Bowl.

Green Bay has a lot of free agents on their roster. They will need decide which ones to retain and which ones to let go. Unfortunately, they also do not have much cap space to use.

One player who could be cut loose to create more money would be veteran tight end Jimmy Graham. At this point in time, Graham is expected to be released. He simply isn’t worth $10 million for a single season anymore.

To replace him, the Packers could look to free agency. Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper are free agents and would be massive upgrades over Graham.

Henry caught 55 passes for 652 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 with the Chargers. He put up those numbers in just 12 games played.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three reasons the Packers should make a play to sign Henry in free agency.
