2. Complete Their Receiving Corps
Before the Cleveland Browns managed to acquire Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants last spring, the Las Vegas Raiders were one of the main teams in the mix to acquire him. In fact, they were among the Browns and the San Francisco 49ers as the ‘most connected’ teams to Beckham Jr.
The Raiders already have a solid group of receiving targets that would mesh well around Beckham Jr. Between options like Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, and Zay Jones, adding a true No. 1 target into the mix would propel the unit as a whole forward.
Another aspect to remember is the fact that the Raiders also know that Josh Jacobs is a true feature back, too. Having a more impactful group of receivers would make things easier for Jacobs while bolstering the offense as a whole.
Perhaps most importantly of all, Beckham Jr. already signed a five-year, $95M contract extension with the Giants prior to being traded to the Browns. That means the Raiders would have him under contract through the 2023 season without the risk of him departing in free agency.
