2. Cam Newton Isn’t Even Elite Anymore

Let’s be honest here about what Cam Newton is these days. He is a solid starter, but he is no longer the superstar that won the MVP and led the Panthers to Super Bowl contention.

Newton would be an average quarterback at best in this stage of his career. He is 30 years old and has dealt with injuries for two straight years. The Redskins would be getting a shell of what Newton used to be.

Granted, if they didn’t have a young starter already on the roster, this could be worthwhile. However, Dwayne Haskins deserves the chance to start and risking their future on a quarterback who isn’t elite anymore doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
