Cousins is who he is, for better or worse. He’s enough to make the playoffs with, after 10 or maybe 11 wins in a regular season, with a postseason win or two if the matchups take shape favorably.
But when they signed Cousins to a three-year, $84 million deal, it was with the idea he was a clear upgrade over Case Keenum and could get them over the hump into the Super Bowl after a bad loss in the NFC Championship Game to cap the 2017 season. That Super Bowl run feels unlikely, in 2020 or any future years if he were signed to a contract extension.
