The Buffalo Bills uncorked what will be perhaps one the biggest blowouts of the season in a primetime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Some believe it was more of a case of “unprepared Jaguars” more than “great Bills.” However, this team is the real deal.
For those holding onto their doubt, here are a few reasons why that is the case.
An object in motion stays in motion
Forget about the narratives, the skill positions overhaul, and the defensive overhaul. When a team wins a division as many times in a row as the Bills (four), that record will continue. It would take a change at quarterback or head coach to even make it a question. With Sean McDermott and Josh Allen still intact on the sideline and under center, there is no reason to get dragged into the weeds. Put simply, the Bills are here to stay.
Josh Allen never needed Stefon Diggs
One of the key narratives surrounding the team this off-season was that Stefon Diggs’ exit would spell the end of Allen. Instead, the Bills look even stronger. That isn’t to say that Diggs held the Bills back, but that now the team has become less predictable. In other words, the punches from the Bills can come from anywhere. This includes Allen and the defense. As long as Allen is healthy, the team will continue to be a force in the AFC.
Buffalo Bills’ quality defense
While the offense has beaten expectations, the defense also has stepped up this season. Many braced for the unit to fall to pieces, but instead, the Bills have put together a top-ten passing defense in terms of yards per game, per ESPN stats. More importantly, they have put together a top-seven-scoring defense.
Even if Allen stumbles at times this season, the other side of the ball is more than competent enough for the Buffalo Bills to pick up the slack.
