3 sleeper options for the Browns with the No. 10 pick

Tristan Wirfs, Browns, NFL Draft

Tristan Wirfs falls to No. 10

There is a lot that can happen leading into the NFL Draft but as of right now, it’s clear that Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. will be the first off the board at his position. It’s unlikely but some believe the New York Giants could pick him at No. 4 to protect Daniel Jones.

If that type of decision were to occur from the Giants, some team would almost surely decide to go with Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons that otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to pick him. The Carolina Panthers at No. 7 are a team that stands out as an option.

That means only one offensive tackle is off the board by the time the Arizona Cardinals are on the clock at No. 8. The route they choose to go has a lot of influence on what can happen for the Browns. If the Cardinals decide to value upside in Mekhi Becton out of Louisville then Iowa product Tristan Wirfs will fall.

Let’s say the Jaguars end up going with a wide receiver like Jerry Jeudy with the No. 9 selection since they need more firepower alongside D.J. Chark. As a result of that chain of events, the Browns would have the option of selecting that helps an offensive tackle like Wirfs fall to the Browns.

While Lance Zierlein of NFL.com believes it could take some time for Wirfs to become a consistently high-level contributor, the projection is that he could become ‘a good start at either right tackle or guard.’ Meanwhile, his coach from Iowa says he’d play him ideally at left tackle.
