1. Get Aggressive In Free Agency And Sign Byron Jones
Finally, the Jets need a cover corner very badly. Thankfully, there just happens to be a very good one available this offseason in free agency. That guy would be Dallas Cowboys’ impending free agent Byron Jones.
In 2019 with the Cowboys, Jones ended up totaling 46 tackles, a forced fumble, and six defended passes. Those numbers don’t look impressive, but he has much bigger potential than you might think.
At 27 years old, Jones is starting to come into his full potential. He may not be an elite playmaker on the football, but he makes things difficult on opposing offenses. Joining the Jets might be exactly what he needs for the breakout year that many are expecting from him in 2020.
