3 super early predictions for Patriots QB Cam Newton in 2021

The New England Patriots decided to run it back with Cam Newton at quarterback in 2021. After showing flashes of being a star last season, Newton earned another chance leading Bill Belichick’s offense. He did have quite a few issues throwing the ball and a bout with COVID-19 threw him off a bit, but Newton obviously did enough to prove that he has good football left in the tank.

Newton will look once again to get his career back on track this season. Belichick and company went out and brought in more weapons for him in tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry. They also signed wide receiver Nelson Agholor in free agency.

Last season with the Patriots, Newton completed 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 2,657 yards, eight touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also racked up 592 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

With the improved weapons around him, it will be interesting to see how Newton performs. Assuming he is able to stay healthy, the future is bright for the former MVP. New England will be a fun team to watch this season.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three super early predictions for Cam Newton with the Patriots in 2021.

3. At Least 23 Passing Touchdowns

After only throwing eight touchdown passes last season, there was a lot of concern surrounding Newton’s future. It was expected that the Patriots would choose to move on from him. That didn’t end up being the case and the Patriots decided to put some faith in him and bring him back for another season.

Newton will make them thankful that they did believe in him. He will put up much better production with his arm and will end up throwing for at least 23 touchdowns. That number will make the one-year deal to re-sign Newton more than worth it for the Patriots.

2. He Continues His Impressive Success On The Ground

Last season, the Patriots found a ton of success utilizing Cam Newton’s ability to make plays with his legs. He scored 12 touchdowns on the ground and also rushed for 592 yards. That success will continue this coming season.

Even with an improved aerial attack, the Patriots are going to do their best to get Newton involved on the ground. In red zone situations, he will received quite a few opportunities on the ground once again. That will end up seeing him rack up another 500+ rushing yards and another eight or more rushing touchdowns.

1. Cam Newton Leads The Patriots To The Playoffs

Finally, there is only one goal that the Patriots care about this season. That goal would be getting back to the postseason.

Belichick and company are not happy with missing the playoffs in 2020. They are winners and they will not accept back-to-back losing seasons. Newton will end up being able to lead the franchise back to the playoffs in 2021.

Newton may never be as good as he once was in his prime with the Carolina Panthers. His days competing for the MVP award are likely over. But, he is still good enough to be a winning quarterback that leads his squad to the playoffs and that will happen this year.
