Byron Jones’ Absence Will Be Tough

Losing Byron Jones is going to hurt a lot. Jones is one of the top corners in the NFL and his departure from a shaky secondary will be hard to recover from.

The Cowboys do not have enough depth at corner to let a player of Jones’ caliber walk away in free agency. This loss is a direct negative result of overpaying Ezekiel Elliot to start the 2019 season and will not be the last.

Dallas is assuredly praying to find a quality corner in one of the earlier rounds to replace Jones. Chidobe Awuzie looks primed to take over the starting role, but the Cowboys still need to draft a replacement. Byron Jones will be very hard to replace and that will leave a dark cloud on free agency for Dallas.
