3 takeaways from NFL free agency for the Dallas Cowboys

Additions To The Defensive Line

Sticking with the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys have finally sufficiently addressed their defensive line. The additions of Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, and Aldon Smith are all massive.

Gerald McCoy is a proven interior defensive lineman that brings a veteran presence to a young defense. Dontari Poe would be better in a 3-4 than a 4-3 due to his size, but he will still be great lining up alongside McCoy.

Aldon Smith is one of the biggest surprise signings of free agency. Smith had one of the most dominant single seasons of the last decade but struggled with decision making outside of football. Smith has been out of the NFL since 2015, but taking a chance on him to pair up with Demarcus Lawrence as a likely depth piece was a great move by Dallas.
