3 targets for the 49ers with the No. 13 pick in the NFL Draft

Javon Kinlaw

After trading Buckner to the Colts, the 49ers are left with Sheldon Day and Kentavius Street as their interior defenders. That could lead John Lynch and company to target one of the surefire interior defender prospects in the first round.

If Derrick Brown isn’t on the board, Javon Kinlaw might be a player that could still be available when the 49ers are on the clock at No. 13. Over the past two seasons, Kinlaw evolved into a disruptive force at South Carolina.

The explosive interior defender combined for 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles from 2018-2019. Standing at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Kinlaw is an absolute unit that is stout versus the run and can produce pressure from the interior.

With the departure of Buckner, Kinlaw would give the 49ers another dominant interior defender that can anchor the middle of the defensive line. A defensive line of Nick Bosa, Dee Ford, Day, and Kinlaw doesn’t sound bad at all.
