3 teams who could steal Dak Prescott from the Cowboys

Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Looking ahead to the upcoming NFL offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot of work to do. One of their main tasks will be figuring out how to re-sign Dak Prescott. Many thought they would re-sign him long-term last offseason, but that did not end up being the case.

Prescott and the Cowboys were viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender coming into the season. Unfortunately, they started the season off slow and ended up seeing their star quarterback go down with a gruesome season-ending ankle injury.

He ended up playing in just five games, completing 68 percent of his pass attempts for 1,856 yards, nine touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Now, the Cowboys will have a decision to make. Do they pay Prescott the massive contract that he wants coming off of a big-time injury? Or do they consider letting him hit free agency and potentially sign elsewhere?

All of that being said, let’s take a look at three teams who could come in and steal Dak Prescott from the Cowboys in free agency.

3. Washington Football Team

How crazy would it be to see one of the Cowboys’ most bitter rivals come in and steal their franchise quarterback? Washington is a piece or two away from contending for the playoffs, with quarterback being the biggest need. Alex Smith should win the Comeback Player of the Year award, but he isn’t the long-term answer.

Dwayne Haskins appears to be on his way out of town in the near future. Ron Rivera would love to work with a guy like Dak Prescott. Washington will have some cap space to spend and if Prescott is available, they should throw everything they can at him.

2. New England Patriots

Gone are the days of the Patriots being set at quarterback with Tom Brady. Cam Newton was signed and started the season off strong, but things have fallen off the wheels a bit. On the year, Newton has thrown for 2,053 yards, five touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Bill Belichick is never going to be a guy satisfied with rebuilding. He wants to win and win big. Dak Prescott could very well be the guy that pushes them back over the top and into Super Bowl contention.

1. Indianapolis Colts

Finally, there is one team that would be a perfect landing spot for Dak Prescott way ahead of the others. That team would be the Colts, who are currently starting Philip Rivers as their quarterback. Even though Rivers has been solid, being able to add Prescott would be a huge upgrade.

With the way their roster is currently set up, the Colts are close to Super Bowl contention. Prescott would give their offense a massive jolt of improvement. Chris Ballard has money to spend and should go all-out to sign Prescott if he’s available.
