Buffalo Bills
Once the Buffalo Bills were eliminated in the AFC Wild Card Round, Lorenzo Alexander announced that he was retiring from the NFL. Even before Alexander hung up his cleats, the Bills were a team that could use a spark in the pass-rushing department.
While boasting the No. 4 pass defense in 2019, Buffalo finished with 44 sacks as a defensive unit (12th in the NFL). As good as Jerry Hughes has been, the Bills would be even more lethal off of the edge with Clowney.
Also, Buffalo already has a defensive line that features the likes of Ed Oliver and Star Lotulelei. As of this moment, the Bills have $20.7 million in cap space remaining, per Spotrac. Releasing Trent Murphy could give Buffalo more cap space to sign Clowney and sign their incoming rookies.
Given the moves that the Bills made this offseason, they are attempting to take the crown as the AFC East champs in 2020, with Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots. Adding Clowney would definitely improve Buffalo’s chances of winning the division next season.
