3 Teams Who Should Sign Colts’ Free Agent WR TY Hilton

There were a lot of very good wide receivers on the move this offseason. The free-agent class was deep, stars were traded and the 2022 NFL Draft class set records for the number of wide receivers that were selected. There are still several solid veterans available in free agency. Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. But, another veteran that should be garnering some interest is Indianapolis Colts’ veteran free agent TY Hilton.

Hilton has spent the first 10 seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts but looks like he could move on this offseason. Injuries have held him back at times the last few seasons, but he still looks like he has something to offer a team as a deep threat.

Where can Hilton end up if he doesn’t return to the Colts? Here are three teams that should look into signing him.

3. Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans wide receiver group is going to look a lot different in 2022 than it did in 2021. A.J. Brown was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and Julio Jones was released after an injury-plagued season.

Taking their places will be Robert Woods, who was acquired in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams and first-round pick Treylon Burks, who was selected with the pick acquired in the Brown deal.

Burks drew a lot of similarities to Brown, but it is anyone’s guess if he can have the same impact right off the bat. The Titans want to run the ball as much as possible, but adding another pass catcher to the mix wouldn’t be a bad idea.

TY Hilton would provide the team without another veteran to lean on, helping the younger players along. Taking a long-time Colt should also help with game planning against them, as he can offer some insight into how Indianapolis does things.

2. Chicago Bears

There may not be a team in the NFL that needs wide receiver help as much as the Chicago Bears do. They lost Allen Robinson this offseason in free agency but didn’t do much to replace him.

Part of that is a new regime being in place led by Ryan Poles in the front office. He has a lot of work to do when it comes to cleaning up this roster, so it was difficult to add players to the mix. But, they need to do something to help Justin Fields.

Fields is being set up to fail with an underwhelming offensive line and skill position players. Darnell Mooney is his No. 1 target right now, but the team could certainly use another veteran in the group.

If TY Hilton wants to land with a team that will guarantee him the most playing time, Chicago could very well be where he ends up. He would be in line for snaps right off the bat as Mooney is the only player locked into a role at the position.

1. Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens surprised a lot of people when they traded Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals sent a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to Baltimore, who is left dangerously thin at the wide receiver position.

Brown was their nominal No. 1 receiver with hopes that Rashod Bateman would get on track in his second season in the NFL. They have a great tight end in Mark Andrews but need a little more juice at receiver.

Hilton could step right into a starting role in Baltimore, similar to Chicago. However, the Ravens have a path to contending for a playoff spot this season, while the Bears are embarking on a rebuild.

Baltimore attempted to sign TY Hilton last offseason before he re-upped with the Colts. They need a wide receiver even more now and should look into bringing him aboard again.
