Murry was second among quarterbacks in rushing yards last year (522), with four touchdowns on 93 attempts.
It’s not surprising Murray was top-10 in the league in scrambles (28). But even if you leave out the small samples of some backup quarterbacks, and account for Lamar Jackson being a unique entity as a runner, Murray’s average of 6.9 yards per scramble was dismal.
Part of Murray’s growth will be meeting his talent with experience and better efficiency. That may start, very simply on the ground floor, as a runner.
