
The San Francisco 49ers’ 2019 season struck many by surprise when they put together their first double-digit winning season since 2013. Third-year head coach Kyle Shanahan orchestrated a ground and pound running attack to accompany one of the league’s best defensive fronts, resulting in a 13-3 record and a trip to Super Bowl LIV.
Ultimately, San Francisco fell short to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV due in large to the dynamic play-calling of Andy Reid and the right arm of Patrick Mahomes, but the future remains bright with a young 49ers roster.
Many things went the 49ers way during the 2019 season, as they won five games by one possession. The organization rode high during the divisional and championship round as they got a real taste of what it’s like to win highly anticipated games on a big stage. Although they had quite the wild ride in 2019, it’s no guarantee that success will continue into next season.
