3 Trade Targets The Buffalo Bills Must Consider Before Deadline

The Buffalo Bills entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, but they have not exactly looked the part over the first seven weeks.

The Bills are just 4-3 and have some puzzling losses on their resume, most recently falling to the New England Patriots in Week 7.

To be fair, Buffalo has always looked dominant for stretches, but its lack of consistency has been a major issue thus far.

Clearly, the Bills could use some roster upgrades, and there is still time for them to add some pieces before the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

Here are three targets for Buffalo to consider before the end of the month.

Jaylon Johnson, Chicago Bears

The Bills suffered a major blow at cornerback earlier this season, when Tre’Davious White was lost for the year due to a torn Achilles.

Now, Buffalo is in serious need of some depth at the position, and Jaylon Johnson may end up being the best cornerback available.

That is, of course, if the Bears are actually willing to move him.

Chicago moved multiple pieces at the trade deadline last season, and it remains to be seen if it wishes to do that for the second year in a row. However, Johnson is set to be a free agent at the end of the year, and if the Bears don’t feel they will be able to re-sign him, it may be wise to cash in now.

Johnson would solve a pretty big problem in the Bills’ secondary and would significantly soften the blow of losing White.

If the Bears refuse to deal Johnson away, Carolina Panthers cornerback Donte Jackson could be another option.

Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas Raiders

Buffalo has a terrific tandem of receivers in Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, but beyond those two, quarterback Josh Allen doesn’t have a whole lot to turn to in the aerial attack.

Hunter Renfrow could be the answer there.

Renfrow has been a forgotten man in the Raiders’ offense this season, logging just eight catches over the first seven games.

However, just two years ago, Renfrow was one of the NFL’s most prolific wide outs, hauling in 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns.

It seems hard to fathom that Renfrow, who is just 27 years old, has already declined that much. Perhaps the right offense could get more out of him.

Renfrow is a sure-handed target who would give Allen a nice security blanket on short and intermediate routes and would help open up the field for Diggs and Davis.

Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

Are the Bills in desperate need of a running back? No.

James Cook has done a fine job in his second season, rushing for 419 yards while averaging 4.8 yards per carry thus far. Latavius Murray has been the change-of-pace back for the club, although he has been far less efficient, recording 3.9 yards per tote.

That’s where Derrick Henry could come into play.

Henry is in the last year of his deal with the Titans, and with Tennessee being 2-4 and headed for a probable rebuild, it could end up moving its star halfback.

The three-time Pro Bowler would comprise a very impressive duo with Cook and would give Buffalo one of the league’s best rushing attacks. Remember: Allen can run the football, as well.

Henry would likely be costly, but the Bills are trying to win a Super Bowl now.
