4. Leonard Floyd didn’t thrive in Chuck Pagano’s defense

In 2018, the Bears had Vic Fangio as their defensive coordinator and had an utterly dominant year on defense. Due to his success, Fangio left Chicago to accept the head coaching job for the Denver Broncos.

To replace him, the Bears hired Chuck Pagano—a well-respected assistant in the NFL. Pagano is most known for his time as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens in 2011.

Given that, Pagano is considered to be a defensive savant. Even though he typically puts players in positions to succeed, Leonard Floyd failed to produce in Pagano’s defense.

The fourth-year edge rusher tallied a career-low three sacks and three tackles for loss. Considering how Floyd has begun his career, the Bears could choose to part ways with him this offseason.
