The Denver Broncos matchup against the New York Jets on Thursday night will feature multiple young, developing players seeing playing time for both teams.
It also features two head coaches who have faced media scrutiny early-on in the season, in Vic Fangio and Adam Gase. Fangio will trot out quarterback Brett Rypien in place of Drew Lock, who is out with a shoulder injury.
The Broncos also signed former No. 3 overall pick Blake Bortles for added depth in their quarterback room, but it’s Rypien who gets a chance to gain a hold on Denver’s starting quarterback job in Lock’s absence.
Rypien’s focus should be on keeping possession, leaning on his run game in Melvin Gordon, and minimizing turnovers. This would certainly be a different game in Lock were playing, but the good news for Rypien is the Jets are not exactly the 1985 Bears as far as their defense is concerned.
Let’s look at four bold predictions for the Broncos vs. the Jets on Thursday night.
