Aaron Rodgers is back. After weeks of speculation, Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers were able to work out a deal that will keep the 2020 NFL MVP in a Packers’ uniform for the upcoming season — and it could be his last.

Rodgers could be free to choose his new team prior to the 2022 NFL season. Last season, Rodgers threw for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns while completing 70.7% of his passes. Rodgers finished with just five interceptions. Those numbers led to an MVP award and what looked like the ultimate farewell tour.

He was allegedly unhappy with the new regime in Green Bay, especially after they decided to take Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. With Rodgers back under center, this makes Green Bay contenders for one more year.

In 2020, the Packers finished 13-3 and made a run to the NFC Championship Game. That was the second straight year that they were eliminated just one game before the Super Bowl. There are expectations once again and all is right in Green Bay, at least for one more year, with No. 12 back in the building.

Heading into the 2021 season, the Packers will be near the top of the power rankings. Here are four predictions for the team as they prepare for what could be another long playoff run.

4. Aaron Rodgers Throws 40 Touchdowns Again

Everyone has an opinion and they can say what they want, but Rodgers is on a revenge tour. Yes, he has been one of the top quarterbacks in the game for over a decade now, but it is not a coincidence that he puts up an all-time season and wins MVP the year after the Packers draft his replacement.

Rodgers is not the type to roll over and not compete, which is why he will go off once again this season. The Packers have Rodgers for at least one final season and he could go for 40 touchdowns once again. This would be the first time he accomplished the feat in back-to-back seasons and would only be the fourth time in his career that he has thrown 40 touchdowns.

It is not automatic to assume. One thing we do know about Rodgers is that he will not turn the ball over, but he could have another all-time season for his final one in Green Bay.

Green Bay rejoiced when Rodgers showed up to training camp and now they will have the luxury of watching him for one more year. In that year, Rodgers could very well show the front office what they are pushing out the door.

3. Davante Adams Gets A New Contract

A couple short weeks ago, it seemed as though the Packers and Davante Adams were far away on a deal. There has been no word on the specifics, but there is a sense that those talks have lightened up with Rodgers returning. Adams will have his quarterback under center and when No. 12 leaves, that will open up cap room for a huge deal for one of the best receivers in football.

Adams has turned in four straight Pro Bowl seasons and was named First Team All-Pro in 2020. He finished with 115 catches for 1,349 yards and a league-high 18 touchdowns last season. That marked the second time in three years that Adams finished with 100 or more catches and the fourth time in five years he caught double-digit touchdowns.

There is no way Green Bay can let him go. When they make the transition to Love, it is important to have that elite No. 1 threat and Adams is as good as it gets.

This is a deal that Green Bay knows they have to get done and will at some point. It will be interesting to see the timing and the figure but Adams is set up for a huge payday.

2. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon Combine for 15 Rushing Touchdowns

After the Packers drafted Love in 2020, they made another questionable pick with AJ Dillon in the second round. The selection was not questionable because of the player Dillon is. He enjoyed a successful career at Boston College and has a chance to be a productive pro. It was a strange fit because the Packers already featured Aaron Jones in the backfield.

Green Bay could enjoy a nice two-headed monster this season. Jones has been a touchdown machine during his career. That includes a 16-touchdown campaign in 2019.

Jones will enter the season as the primary back, but will lose some touches to Dillon. That is why the Packers could have two running backs nearing double-digit scores. Jones and Dillon will certainly combine for 15 rushing touchdowns this season. Green Bay is one of the most explosive offenses in the league and they spend a lot of time in the red zone. That opens up plenty of opportunities for running backs.

Jones and Dillon are going to play off each other this season and become one of the top duos in the backfield in the league. It will be entertaining to watch how Matt LaFleur uses both of his weapons at running back this season.

1. Packers Fall Short Once Again

The Packers have made two consecutive appearances in the NFC Championship Game. They have fallen short in both. That makes three NFC title game losses in the last five years.

Rodgers still has just one Super Bowl title that came back in 2010. It has been years of exciting regular seasons that fall short when it matters in Green Bay. This year will be no different.

The Minnesota Vikings have been the biggest competition to the Packers in the NFC North, but Green Bay will still be favored. With Rodgers back, it is hard to imagine the Packers finishing out of the top spot. Things seem to change when they get to the postseason.

There is no doubt that the Packers are contenders in the NFC, but this could be another season where they fall short of the Super Bowl and lose in one of the first weekends of the postseason. Another year like that would not be the ideal finish to Rodgers’ career in Green Bay.

The storybook ending would be Rodgers leading the Packers to a Super Bowl this season before ending up in another jersey. The outcome has yet to be seen, but there will be plenty of storylines coming out of Green Bay this season.
