New England’s defense forces Mahomes’ first interception
Mahomes has yet to throw an interception through three games, thanks in large part to the Chiefs’ ability to keep defenses off balance. If New England is going to pull off a victory, forcing a Mahomes turnover could go a long way toward toppling the Chiefs.
The Patriots have four interceptions on the season, with one returned for a touchdown. Mahomes and the Chiefs have proven they’re extremely difficult to beat, but by keeping Mahomes on the sideline, New England would have their best possible chance to win.
Part of the reason Mahomes minimizes turnovers is because he’s willing to take whatever a defense gives him. He has multiple offensive weapons at his disposal, and when he has time to go through his progressions, Mahomes finds the open man. But if the Patriots can put pressure on Mahomes, they may be able to force him into making his first mistake of the season.
If the Patriots are going to beat the Chiefs, they’ll need to win the turnover battle and keep Mahomes on the sideline as much as possible.
