How Improved is the Cardinals’ Offense?
There was a real need for the Arizona Cardinals to add a legitimate No. 1 receiving target for Kyler Murray when the offseason started. They exceeded the wildest of expectations anyone had to address this need by trading for DeAndre Hopkins from the Houston Texans.
By adding Hopkins into the mix, the Cardinals are receiving a dynamic playmaker they sorely lacked. He’s routinely one of the NFL’s best big-play threats between his ability to run routes with precisions and by creating yards after contact.
Opposing teams will naturally have to focus on slowing Hopkins down when crafting their defensive gameplans. Other receiving options like Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk will benefit as a result since they will often face easier matchups and general conditions.
The extent to which the Cardinals’ offense has improved remains to be seen until they actually take the field. Their passing attack appears to be genuinely impressive but with a second-year quarterback in the equation, the major results may not come right away.
