Baker Mayfield takes a leap forward
The rookie season Baker Mayfield put together for the Browns in 2018 was impressive and appeared to be a strong foundation for his NFL career. He followed it up with a disappointing 2019 campaign regressing in almost every category.
To put it into perspective, Mayfield completed 317 of his 534 pass attempts (59.4% completion percentage) for 3,827 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He ended up posting a considerably worse completion rate and averaged fewer completions, passing yards, and touchdowns.
Without Freddie Kitchens in charge, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Mayfield display real progress in his development next season. Now, Kevin Stefanski is at the helm and there is reason to have plenty of more confidence in his abilities than Kitchens.
