New York Jets
The asking price for Logan Ryan may be too high for the New York Jets to get a deal done and the need for more proven talent at cornerback persists. There are other cornerback options in free agency they should look to pursue as alternatives, including Aqib Talib.
The current state of the Jets’ cornerback depth chart is underwhelming. The projected starters include Pierre Desir, Blessaun Austin, and Brian Poole, which simply isn’t enough. There are questions surrounding how effective Desir and Poole can be next season.
New York has no shortage of salary cap space to work with if they were to want to sign a veteran like Talib. They currently have just under $19.9 million in spending room and considering the market isn’t robust for Talib at this moment, they wouldn’t need to use most of that.
The AFC East is more open now than it has been for quite some time but the Jets still trail the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. It’s important New York does what they can to maximize its talent and signing Talib would be doing so at the cornerback position.
