San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers head into next season with still an elite defense but should look to reinforce the unit as much as possible. One position that stands out as an ideal spot to improve is the cornerback role opposite of Richard Sherman.
The options the 49ers currently have on its roster for this particular role is underwhelming. Between Emmanuel Moseley, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Jason Verrett, there is a lack for a solidified option that a contender should feel comfortable trusting.
There seems to be the right combination of circumstances for Talib and the 49ers to be a strong fit. San Francisco is a legitimate Super Bowl contender and still has $15.7 million in salary-cap space to add more talent to its roster, making perfect sense for the veteran cornerback.
While Talib is an older player that has dealt with injuries in recent years, a potential arrangement with the 49ers wouldn’t need to last long. San Francisco would be able to look to the available free agents next offseason to re-tool if they don’t want to keep him beyond 2020.
