Caleb Farley is entering the 2021 NFL Draft as one of the top rated cornerbacks. He will find no shortage of teams that need help in the secondary and will like the film and physical abilities that Farley brings to the table. It is hard to project just where Farley will land, but mid-first round seems to be the standard range that teams would likely take a chance on him.
Here are the top four teams that could end up calling Farley’s name in the NFL Draft.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys need a lot of help this year, but they do have some things going for them. The offense should get an immediate boost once players, like franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, return from injury and can play together again for a full season. The area that will not get that boost is the defensive secondary.
Dallas will need to make a few moves here to try and regain their competitive edge and Caleb Farley could become the number one corner on the roster from day one.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are a team that feel a lot better about their chances to win the division before any changes have been made to their roster. Seeing Drew Brees retire means that the Falcons will not have to go up against the future Hall of Famer twice a year.
Even with that boost, if Atlanta is going to compete in the NFC they will need to improve against the pass. Atlanta could take corners in back to back years with the hope that they each develop into the best secondary in the NFL.
New York Giants
With the quarterback situation under control for the moment, the Giants could look to strengthen their defense and try to continue building around Daniel Jones later in the draft. Caleb Farley would be able to join New York as an immediate starter and he would be playing in a division that did not have an elite starter last season.
This could be a great way for Farley to ease into the NFL and find success early.
San Francisco 49ers
If the Niners decide to stick with Jimmy Garoppolo then there are a number of different areas that could be addressed with their first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While not necessarily their biggest area of need, Caleb Farley would likely be the best player available if he falls this far.
The 49ers would be able to add talent to their secondary while Nick Bosa and company continue making life difficult up front. Farley would be joining one of the most talented defensive groups in the NFL and could help elevate the unit to a Super Bowl caliber level again.
