Indianapolis Colts wide receiver TY Hilton is expected to be a hot commodity this offseason and he could wind up on a variety of teams. The Colts are certainly trying to retain the ninth-year man out of FIU, but some other offers may be too tempting to pass up.

Hilton, 31, has made a name for himself throughout his career as a sure handed target that has the ability to torch teams over the top. He isn’t the tallest or strongest man on the field, but he makes up for his lack of size with his work ethic. In addition to that, he is one of the hardest workers in the NFL, which is a huge reason why he’s going to garner a ton of interest this offseason.

In 2020, Hilton played in 15 games for the Colts and put up another productive season for the team. Hilton hauled in 56 receptions, 762 receiving yards, 13.6 yards per reception, and scored five times. Even after being in the NFL for nearly a decade, Hilton still has a lot of juice in his game.

While he isn’t expected to be as expensive as some other guys on the free agent market like AJ Green or Allen Robinson, he will certainly land a solid gig this offseason.

Here’s a look at four teams (not named the Colts) who could be in the TY Hilton sweepstakes.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are a team who needs to be in the market for every big name wide receiver, but they really seem to have some interest in TY Hilton. The Packers were one of four teams mentioned to be interested in Hilton, and he would thrive with Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball.

Hilton has been honored to have had both Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers dish him the ball in his NFL career, but Rodgers would hands down be the best quarterback he’s ever worked with. He would also get the opportunity to play alongside another great receiver in Davante Adams, which is cause for celebration.

If the Packers want to be able to get over the hump in the playoffs, they need to beef up their receiving corps. Adding TY Hilton to the mix could be enticing for both parties involved.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots enter the 2021 offseason with a need at the wide receiver position and a lot of cap space to spare. The Patriots are obviously in search of a player to lead their franchise this offseason as well, but TY Hilton would be a nice player to build around at the receiver position.

New England didn’t get the production they were hoping for from Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry in 2020, which is why they are looking for a big name talent to add to their receiving unit this offseason. Adding Hilton would provide whoever the quarterback winds up being with a hardworking wideout who is seemingly always open.

The Patriots would be aggressive as far as the contract to land Hilton is concerned as well. The Patriots have plenty of money to spare and adding Hilton to their to-do list would be a brilliant idea.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins need to protect their investment in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and giving him more weapons to throw to could be a great way of doing that. Hilton, a Florida native, would likely welcome a trip back to his home state and would be the top target for Tua to throw to.

The Dolphins were vastly improved this past season and they really just need a firm fine tuning of their roster to be a playoff team. One of the areas that needs some fine tuning is the wide receiver position. The Dolphins are led by the very solid Devante Parker at the position, but building up their corps around him is crucial to the team’s success.

Adding TY Hilton could allow the Dolphins to focus on other positions in the 2021 NFL Draft, a draft in which the Dolphins currently own two first-round picks. Bringing in Hilton would be a beneficial move for both sides.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders need to add some additional weapons to their roster and the hard working “Gruden’s Grinder” style of play that TY Hilton has would mesh well in Las Vegas. Hilton always garnered the praise of Gruden back when he was in the commentary booth rather than the sidelines and the two could partner up in 2021.

Currently, the Raiders have some shifting pieces around their roster, including the future of quarterback Derek Carr looming in the dust, but adding Hilton to the team would provide the Raiders with a great weapon for the team to build around. The Raiders were pleased with the emergence of Nelson Agholor in 2020 and bringing him back to team up with Darren Waller, Henry Ruggs, and Hilton could be a great foursome of targets.

The bottom line is that Hilton will be a great fit wherever he goes, simply because of his natural ability to play the wide receiver position. The Raiders would be a great fit for a variety of reasons, and Gruden could look to get a deal done this offseason.
