Falcons’ Defense is Still a Problem
Going up against an offense led by Russell Wilson is never an easy task for a team. That proved to be the case for the Falcons in this outing as they allowed a concerning volume of points (38).
A particular area that proved to be problematic for the Falcons’ defense was pass coverage, something that plagued them throughout last season. The Seahawks managed to throw for 322 yards and four touchdowns with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett leading the way.
A matchup with impactful receivers proved to be too much for A.J. Terrell in his NFL debut, and quite frankly for the Falcons’ secondary as a whole. Against some potent passing offenses in the NFC South, that’s simply not going to cut it for Atlanta.
There has been simply too much of a burden placed on the Falcons’ offense to overcompensate for the lack of defensive impact. That’s not a formula that will result in wins on a consistent basis.
