4. The Bengals’ Offensive Line Must Improve
There’s a lot to like about the Bengals’ offense. Joe Burrow is an exciting young quarterback, Joe Mixon has intriguing versatility, and they have a variety of talented receivers that can contribute. However, Cincinnati’s offensive line does not make the list.
The Bengals struggled to contain the Browns’ pass rushers and that even led to a strip-sack that gave the Browns a possession in the red zone. Even though Burrow had a strong outing, the burden placed on a quarterback playing his second-career NFL game was too much.
It wasn’t just Burrow that had to attempt to overcome difficult circumstances caused by the offensive line. Joe Mixon was often hit beyond ever crossing the line of scrimmage and that limited his ability to produce on carries throughout the game.
Whenever the Bengals manage to give Burrow time to throw and clean running lanes for Mixon, their offense could rapidly improve. Until then, Cincinnati will struggle to rack up wins, but should at least give opposing teams a run for their money.
