2. Joe Burrow is a Special Talent
Whenever a player gets drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in an NFL Draft, it’s evident they will be relied upon heavily. The situation they enter requires their talent to transcend tough circumstances, and Joe Burrow is with the Bengals is no exception.
There may not be a greater indicator of the Bengals needing Burrow to make magic happen than his volume of pass attempts. He ended up throwing the football 61 times against the Browns — the second-most by a rookie quarterback in a single game in NFL history.
What Burrow displayed during his pass attempts was impressive to see. He racked up 37 completions — the most by a rookie ever in a single game. He often had to use his mobility to avoid pressure and still was accurate on the move. When in the pocket, he was effective despite rarely facing pressure from the pass rush and not having much time to let plays develop.
Burrow had to overcome poor offensive line play without having any elite talents around him. It will be fascinating to see how he manages to build on his performances throughout his rookie campaign.
