Indianapolis Colts’ Comeback Shows Impressive Potential
It was a struggle for the Indianapolis Colts early in this game. They went down 14-0 through the first quarter and that disadvantage grew to 21-0 at the start of the second period. From that point on, Indianapolis outscored Cincinnati by a 21-3 margin leading up to halftime.
Being able to overcome such obstacles is important for a team that wants to go deep in the playoffs. The Kansas City Chiefs displayed how important it is to be able to pull off major comebacks.
As ESPN Staff Writer Mike Wells noted, this was just the third time in Rivers’ career that he led his team to a win after trailing by 21 points or more— previously holding a 2-18 record in such situations. Indianapolis hasn’t pulled off a greater deficit since the 2014 AFC Wild Card matchup with the Chiefs.
The Colts have a lot of momentum built after pulling off such an incredible comeback effort. There’s a sizable difference between making a major come from behind victory to take a 4-2 lead compared to losing a tough game and being 3-2.
