Let’s Not Question Lamar Jackson
There was some thought that Lamar Jackson may regress substantially after coming off his truly spectacular 2019 NFL MVP campaign. Well, that doesn’t appear to be the case so far.
The main thought was that opposing teams will now have more film on Jackson and will be able to better position themselves to slow the dynamic quarterback down. It’s just one game, but whatever the Browns saw on tape in preparation…did not help.
Jackson managed to complete an impressive 20-of-25 (80%) pass attempts resulting in 275 yards and 3 touchdowns. He didn’t rely quite as much on his running ability but led the Ravens in rushing with 45 yards on 7 carries.
The simple fact of the matter is that the AFC North will have to put up Jackson’s excellence for many years. It’s possible his volume of stats decline from his historic 2019 results, but regardless, his impact will remain among the NFL’s best.
