Kyler Murray is the Real Deal
It takes a lot of talent to be able to pull off a successful individual outing for a quarterback against a defense like the 49ers. What Kyler Murray showed against San Francisco was a look into what could be the early stage of a truly special career.
It wasn’t easy for Murray to be able to succeed on throws against the 49ers. He completed 26-of-40 (65%) pass attempts for 230 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Where he did most of his damage was using his mobility.
By the time Murray’s performance was over, he managed to run for 91 yards and 1 touchdown on just 13 carries. He ended up outproducing Kenyan Drake as the Cardinals’ leading rusher by producing 31 yards more on 3 fewer attempts.
It’s almost a necessity for a quarterback to have a genuine ability to escape talented pass rushers and to take off and run when facing defenses like the 49ers. Murray has precisely that type of skill-set.
