3. The Chiefs Played Sloppy
After managing to entirely dismantle the Texans’ defense in Week 1, the Chiefs faced a much more difficult challenge in the Chargers. The results Kansas City achieved were noticeably less explosive than what they had just a week ago.
While Patrick Mahomes ended up leading the Chiefs in big moments, there were key areas where Kansas City could have cleaned things up a bit. They had to punt on four of their five first half possessions and only found the end zone on two of their nine possessions in regulation.
For example, despite Mahomes frequently using a hard count to catch the Chargers offsides, the Chiefs ended with more penalties. For reference, Kansas City finished 11 penalties for 90 penalty yards compared to just six penalties for 40 penalty yards from Los Angeles.
It’s important the Chiefs come out to a better start during their Week 3 matchup with the Ravens than they did in this display. Baltimore’s offense will put up much greater results than what Los Angeles did with the reigning league MVP leading the way.
