The Browns’ Defense Stepped Up

It felt as though the Colts couldn’t get into much of a rhythm in the passing game due to the Browns consistently applying pressure with their pass rush. Philip Rivers was prompted into making some truly costly mistakes in this game.

Overall, allowing the Colts’ offense to score 16 points in this game was more than what the Browns could have asked from its defense.

The Browns’ defense took it a step further and was directly responsible for putting nine points on the board between the pick-six and the safety they recorded. That alone proved to be a difference-making set of contributions in this game.

With Baker Mayfield not yet taking the next step in his game, it’s important for the Browns’ defense to continue to execute at a high-level. If not, they will struggle to get wins against tough AFC North teams like the Steelers and the Ravens.
