Neither the Patriots nor Dolphins managed to get on the scoreboard during the opening period. However, New England managed to score 7 points in each of the remaining quarters while containing Miami to just 11 points, resulting in the victory.

The steady output the Patriots provided actually could have been greater had N’Keal Harry not fumbled the ball when attempting to cross the goal-line. The sequence that occurred with under a minute remaining in the first quarter and took away a potential touchdown for New England.

The Patriots managed to send a message that they are to still be feared as a team. Just because Tom Brady is no longer at quarterback for New England doesn’t mean they are destined for failure, and Bill Belichick showed why in Week 1.
