The Patriots’ Defense Remains Scary

There was some thought surrounding the Patriots that a decline in their execution on defense could occur. That was due to the various free agency departures and opt-outs that occurred for New England in the offseason.

It’s still early to go out and declare the Patriots’ defense is still dominant. However, they displayed truly impressive results against the Dolphins–allowing just 269 total yards of offense and recorded 3 takeaways.

Holding a team to 11 points is impressive in itself, but doing so while recording a trio of takeaways takes it to another level. The Patriots’ defense put the offense in prime position to thrive and both units got the job done.

If the Patriots’ defense can keep it up, the running game within the offense has real potential to be able to control the clock throughout games. New England is still a team that should be feared in the AFC East, and in the NFL.
