The Dolphins Still Are Rebuilding

Going up against a tough Patriots defense certainly is low on the list of ideal potential matchups the Dolphins could have faced in Week 1. So overall, the lack of results they achieved could be dramatized, at least to an extent.

Regardless, the Dolphins showed very little reason to believe they can be a threat for an AFC Wild Card spot in 2020. Having too underwhelming results on offense is going to continue to be an issue even against lesser defenses.

While the journeyman story of Ryan Fitzpatrick is entertaining, there just isn’t nearly enough impact for him to lead a team to many wins. That was on display with his output of just 191 yards with 3 interceptions to go with it.

There were some NFL experts who expressed a belief the Dolphins could win the AFC East before Week 1 kicked off. Miami has a chance to finish above the Jets, but beyond that, don’t expect much more.
